It is a romantic-comedy film which is formerly title as The Baster and features Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Patrick Wilson, Juliette Lewis and Jeff Goldblum. The movie was directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The movie was released last August 20, 2010 and gained an opening weekend earning of more than $8 million. Here's the plot of the new Aniston movie: Kassie Singleton (Jennifer Aniston) decides she wants to have a baby. Despite the objections of her neurotic best friend Wally (Jason Bateman), she chooses to do it alone, with the services of handsome and charming sperm donor Roland (Patrick Wilson). Wally has always had feelings for Kassie, but as his friend (Jeff Goldblum) points out, he missed his chance and she put him in the "friend zone". But things don't go to plan, as Wally gets so drunk at Kassie's "insemination party" that he accidentally spills Roland's semen and replaces it with his own. Seven years later, Kassie returns to New York along with precocious-but-neurotic son Sebastian (Thomas Robinson). Wally forms a bond with this loveable mini-version of himself, but the bad news is that Roland is in the picture too. Really good watch, would watch again, and can recommend. While the movie has the appropriate seriousness for a family reconnection, it is rather filled with humor, be it some is situational and goes quite a length to deliver a joke. It makes for a better drama than a comedy, but that sort of thing is bound to happen when the movie rides the line. I'm not a fan of Jennifer Aniston, but the role feels more whiner-baby than her usual fair. I am a fan of Jason Bateman, and I think he nails when to be funny, absurd, neurotic, or serious. For a movie about swapping sperm samples, it really is a powerful story. That family reconnection trope is excellent even without the absurdity of the premise.
